New cabinets and counters without the middleman markup

You buy the cabinets. Noah sets them. That is a genuinely different arrangement than handing the whole thing to a company that marks up your boxes forty percent before anyone picks up a level.

Cabinet work

  • Installing new stock, semi-custom and RTA cabinets
  • Removing old cabinets cleanly, without wrecking the drywall behind them
  • Uppers, lowers, islands and pantry cabinets
  • Cabinet doors and drawer front replacement, the refacing approach
  • Soft-close hinge and slide upgrades on cabinets you are keeping
  • Knobs, pulls and hardware, drilled to a jig so they actually line up
  • Toe kick, filler strips, light rail and crown on top of uppers
  • Bathroom vanities and laundry room cabinets
  • Garage storage cabinets and workbenches

Countertops

  • Setting quartz, granite and solid surface tops
  • Laminate and butcher block
  • Tile backsplash to finish the run
  • Recaulking the counter-to-backsplash seam, which is what fails first

Level, plumb, and the truth about your walls

No wall in a production-built house is straight and no floor is flat. A cabinet run installed to the wall instead of to a level line gives you doors that will not close square and a counter that reveals every sin. Cabinets get shimmed to a laid-out level line, screwed into studs, and joined face frame to face frame. It takes longer. It is the difference.

The hookup, again

Noah sets the cabinets and the counter. Connecting the sink, faucet, dishwasher or garbage disposal is plumbing and electrical work that requires a Florida license, so that piece goes to you or to a licensed trade. He will make sure the cutouts and the timing line up so nobody is standing around waiting.

Questions people actually ask

Should I replace my cabinets or reface them?

If the boxes are solid, level and the layout works, refacing or just new doors and paint gets you eighty percent of the result for a fraction of the price. Replace when the boxes are particleboard that has swelled, when you are changing the layout, or when the cabinets are so shallow or oddly sized that no door is going to save them.

Can you install cabinets I bought from IKEA or a big box store?

Yes. IKEA’s rail system, RTA boxes, and stock lines from the big box stores are all standard work. Just make sure everything is on site and inventoried before install day, because a missing filler strip stops the whole job.

Who templates the countertop?

The fabricator you buy the stone from does the template and usually the install, since they are handling a slab that weighs several hundred pounds. Noah sets the cabinets first so the template is taken off a level, finished base. On laminate and butcher block, he handles the whole thing.

How long is my kitchen out of commission?

For a cabinet swap with no layout change, plan on cabinets going in over two to four days, then the counter template, then a one to two week wait on the stone, then the counter install and backsplash. The stone wait is the long pole and it is outside anyone’s control.

Do you do bathroom vanities?

Yes, and it is one of the best-value jobs in an older Trinity or New Port Richey house. A new vanity, top, mirror and light fixture changes the whole room. The light fixture and the plumbing hookup go to licensed trades; the vanity and the top are his.

Scope note. McCart is a handyman and home repair service. Noah is not a licensed contractor and does not take on work requiring a Florida contractor’s license or a building permit, including electrical, plumbing, HVAC, roofing, structural work, screen enclosures, gutters, soffit and fascia, or additions. If that is what you need, ask anyway and he will point you to someone licensed who does it right.
